TER GROUP supports “Project Aware” with a donation of € 10.000 to contribute to saving our oceans from plastic waste
Plastic waste in the world's oceans is one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. 80% of this plastic waste reaches the oceans through rivers in regions where waste management is currently not sufficiently organized.
To help overcome this challenge, Europe should further expand its leading position in plastics collection and recycling with a standard European bottle deposit system, the expansion of recycling management systems and improved recycling technologies. The EU Commission has proposed and promoted this path and demanded that governments take action. At TER GROUP, we too support and prioritize the idea of recycling management and are committed to ensuring that its implementation makes progress not only in Europe, but also worldwide.
As part of our efforts we have given €10.000 in support of the international organization “Project Aware”. The Project seeks to overcome the barriers of a missing waste management system to reach its final goal: Saving the world’s oceans of plastic waste.
Recycling plastics can have even more benefits than just cleaning the oceans. Plastics are a valuable raw material even after their first use. A wide variety of products can be made from recycled plastic materials, such as furniture, clothing, carrier bags, building materials and many others. In addition, plastics generally consume significantly less energy in the manufacturing and processing process than alternative materials such as metal.
